Success for 2 of our swimmers
Joseph Seage(SO Nottinghamshire) and Connor Freeman (SO Leicestershire and District) took part in the 2015 British Learning Disability Swimming Championship at Swansea on the weekend of 22nd – 23rd August Both swimmers did exceptionally well and swam PB in most of their events. This was Connor’s first time at this competition and he won 3rd Bronze medals. Joseph won 3 Gold and a Silver. Excellent achievements both of you and thanks to the parents for taking them.
|2015||Double Gold in Midlands Regional Tournament
Desford Lawn Tennis Club and East Midland Special Olympic Tennis Player Matthew Chilvers was a double gold medallist at the Midlands Regional Tournament held at Nottingham Tennis Centre, winning the singles and doubles events. Over 60 participants took part in the event coming as far from Cornwall and Scotland to participate. Matthew was delighted with his double gold. This builds on his successful start to the season in the northern region when he won a silver in singles and a gold in doubles and his gold in singles and bronze in doubles at the Southern Region tournament.

Matthew is supported by the GO GOLD scheme. The aim of the scheme is to support talented young athletes, including those athletes who are being recognised by their National Governing Bodies as being our future Olympic, Paralympic, Special Olympic and Commonwealth athletes and potential medal winners. The award is administered by Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport (LRS), supported by funding from Leicestershire County Council. Leicester City Council and Rutland County Council.
|2014||Laura Ensor from Special Olympics Lincolnshire recently took up horse riding and entered her first competition She has soon become very confident and recently took part in The Countryside Challenge at Somersby. She did very well and won a rosette and a cup for coming joint first. Well done Laura!Congratulations to all competitors who took part in the Regional Athletics meeting in Boston, Lincolnshire on 21st June. A great day was had by all with the team collecting a number of medals and a few personal bests for good measure.|
