Special Olympics Derbyshire ‘Come & Try’ Event has been sanctioned

On the 23 of June, the sanction form that you sent in to National Office for the Special Olympics Derbyshire ‘Come & Try’ Event which is to be held on the 31 of July was sanctioned by Special Olympics GB and you are therefore now able to advertise the competition as confirmed to all possible entrants.

The details of this event can now be found on the Special Olympics GB website on the ‘Events Calendar’ or you can go directly to this specific competition by clicking on the flowing link.  If any of the details listed on the website are incorrect, please let me know and I will endeavour to make the amendments ASAP.

Please note however the sanctioning of this event was only granted on the basis that the following items relating to the event were changed / agreed by the competition organiser(s):

  • Once confirmed, please let us know who will be providing first aid at the event.
  • Ensure you have a copy of the venue risk assessment, additional risk assessment and emergency action plan.

Volunteers:

If you would like guidance recruiting volunteers, please contact our National Volunteer Manager, Gearoid Mitchell, and he will endeavour to support you through the recruitment process.

Branding:

In preparation for your competition, I invite you to contact me to organise the delivery/collection of the some event branding. This will need to be displayed in a prominent position at your competition and should also be visible in any photos of the awards ceremony, where possible.

Email Blast:

Please email Emily Onley if you would like us to do an email blast out to specific, or all regions main contacts, about your competition.

Closing Dates:

As we now have your competition closing date, we will include your event in the monthly email which reminds clubs about closing dates which are approaching.

Entry Packs/Forms/Information:

To enable athletes, clubs & regions to access the relevant information for as many competitions as possible, please emailEmily Onley with a copy of the entry pack / entry form / entry information for this competition, we will then be able to add this to our website for people to be able to download when they click on your event in the events calendar.

Eligibility

Please ensure that all competitors are SAM registered by the closing date of your event. If you wish for any non-SAM registered individuals to participate in this event, as guests, you must first seek permission from Special Olympics GB National Office by emailing Emily Onley. Please note that individuals can only compete in any local or regional level of Special Olympics GB competition once as a guest.

Reporting Accidents/Incidents/Ill Health/Hazards

Please remember that if there are any accidents or incidents during the event, a completed copy of the Accident Incident report form (see attached) should be forwarded immediately to Andy Heffer for assessment and follow up where necessary.
